Transmission - downloading torrent files System: BeOS, Haiku, Zeta
Preface Programs to share files have a bad publicity in the public. Too many people use these programs to share illegal files over the internet. But the file sharing networks have not only bad sides. Many Linux publisher use this programs to give the latest versions of there distributions to the people. The favourite file sharing tool for this group is the BitTorrent network and Transmission is a GUI to use it We want to explain you how to use Transmission to download torrent files. Use Transmission If Transmission is not already installed on your system, you can get them here. Unzip the package and install the program. Transmission is included into Zeta. You can find it under Internet. To get torrent files you need to download it first. Torrent files have the suffix .torrent and have a little size because there are only informations about the download into it. ![]() To use a torrent file open Transmission and move the torrent file with the mouse on Transmission. ![]() The file will be checked and the download begins. You can see the status of the download process in form of a status bar. The download file will be saved at the same folder as the torrent file. At the moment the download runs, you can delete the torrent file. Informations 1. Download Break The speed for the download is dependent on the network speed, so it can be a good way to break some downloads to speed up another one. Mark a download and then select break in the menu. 2. Delete a download If you want to delete a download, you need to set the download on break before. Then you can select the delete function in the application menu. 3. Continue a Download If you want to break a download, because you want to restart the system or and the work for today, do it if you like. Then you start the system you only need start Transmission to continue the download.
